Week 1 Discussion: US National Travel and Tourism (Recovery) Strategy

Earlier this year, the US Travel Policy Council put out a call to the private sector for input on a new USA National Travel and Tourism Strategy to be published later this year. In this discussion, you will analyze the USA’s National Travel and Tourism Strategy presently, and outline what you believe are the key components based in order to foster travel and tourism recovery and growth. Documents for you to consider are provided below including the USA’s 2022 plan, and the UK’s Tourism Recovery Plan, published in 2021.

1. What are the relative strengths and weaknesses in the USA’s 2022 plan in terms of overall travel and tourism strategy?
2. Do you believe that the UK plan addresses key elements and strategies that should be part of a national tourism recovery plan? Why or why not? Please provide specific examples.
3. If you were to provide input to the new USA National Travel and Tourism Strategy, which elements of the 2022 plan would you retain? What additional elements would you propose be added based on your analysis of the UK Tourism Recovery Plan?
