FNET: Start of Semester Reflection
This assignment is due by 11 pm on September 8, 2022.
For the start-of-the-semester reflection, reflect on why you are taking this class, how you plan to complete it successfully, and what concerns you have. Topics to think about include:
How you feel about taking a statistics class?
Your behavior as a student in general and in online classes in particular.
What concerns do you have about taking an online, asynchronous class?
What strategies will you employ to complete this class successfully?
How will this statistics class help you complete your education goals?
How will this statistics class help you complete your career goals?
How this statistics class can help become a better member of society?
I want a coherent, thoughtful reflection. No bullet points. No Part 1 and Part 2, etc. Avoid run-on sentences, poor grammar, and spelling mistakes. Your reflection must have multiple paragraphs.
The best reflections are introspective. Please do not tell me about your “learning style.” Learning styles are a myth. There is no evidence that your so-called “learning style” has any importance.
You must follow my instructions.
Instructions:
Your assignment must be submitted through Blackboard. Only in the most extreme
circumstances will I accept a file submitted by email. I will not accept printouts of your
assignment. Failure to follow this instruction may result in a grade of zero.
Late assignments will not be accepted. Late assignments will receive a grade of zero. If for
any reason you cannot submit this assignment, please let me know before the due date. It is better to ask permission than to beg for forgiveness. This assignment must be submitted no later than 11 pm on date 09/08/22.
Paragraphs must be double-spaced with the first line of each paragraph indented a half an inch. There should be no added lines before or after each paragraph. Use a standard 12-point serif font like Cambria or Times New Roman. Use standard margins: 1.25” on the right and left, 1” on the top and bottom. Failure to follow these instructions will result in a 10-point reduction. Do not use sans serif fonts like Arial or Calibri. Do not justify the right margins of your text. To avoid these problems, use the Word template provided on Blackboard: Reflection1_Template.docx.
Place your name in the place indicated in the Word template. Sadly, some students do not put their name in the paper.
I only accept Microsoft Word files; that is to say, docx files. I will not accept files saved in other formats: wps, rtf, txt, pdf, pages, odt, or Google docs files. Failure to submit a Word (docx) file will result in a grade of zero. All word processors allow you to save or export files to the docx format. In addition, all CUNY students get free copies of Microsoft Office, which includes Word and Excel. Do not forget to get your free Microsoft Office software.
