Many students come to the middle and secondary classroom as consumers of the Internet. It is important to think intentionally about how English language arts teachers can use effective reading instruction techniques, such as modeling, read alouds, small group and whole class collaboration, vocabulary practice, and choice, in digital ways.
Drawing on the topic’s readings and personal experiences with technology, select one or two technological tools you might use to teach reading in the English language arts classroom. Then, answer the following questions:
1.Describe how you might integrate the technological tool into a reading lesson plan/unit. Provide a general outline of that lesson plan.
2.Suggest a Common Core reading standard for ELA that aligns with this lesson plan/unit. http://www.corestandards.org/wp-
content/uploads/ELA_Standards.pdf
3.Describe how the technological tool will enhance the reading skills of students.
4.Describe what challenges you might face bringing this technology tool into the classroom and how you might overcome those challenges.
Aim for 150 words in each response.

Helpful hint: The learning objective, not the technology, is key. Choose your learning objective first. Then, decide on the tool that will enhance students’ learning.
